Get out of your funk, break the habit of morning scrolling, and start your day off with more energy and focus.
Do you like the IDEA of daily to-do lists and intention-setting, but have wasted enough money on planners over the years to know that shit doesn’t work for you - even though you desperately crave having some semblance of control over your day?
ME TOO! And this is the case for sooooo many people who are neurodivergent, struggle with mental health, and/or just have more creative brains. We just aren’t as analytical and routine-driven as a lot of people, so most of the productivity advice online just doesn’t work well for us.
In fact, trying to control your day with to-do lists and rigid scheduling might have the opposite effect, leaving you overwhelmed and unable to get anything done.
So what happens? Autopilot kicks in like:
wake up, feel anxious because you don’t know what you need to do or you have SO MUCH to do that you don’t know where to start
scroll TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, or Youtube
spend way too long in bed dreading getting started
feel chronic, low-level anxiety and rely on deadlines & urgency to get things done
It’s not our fault that we do this -- it's system overwhelm. It’s literally your body coping with nervous system shut down in the only way it knows how.
And to make it more frustrating, the brain is actually designed to put most things on autopilot to conserve energy, which means your brain will actively fight you when you try to re-program this pattern.
So even though at any given moment, we have two options:
1️⃣ Default to our conditioned programming
2️⃣ Or consciously re-write the settings through our thoughts and actions
It’s really fucking hard to re-write our autopilot. The brain resists it at all costs.
